To my faithful family, friends and prayer warriors,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our mighty Lord and Savior!
I just realized how long it had been since I wrote. My apologies, but please know that you remain in my thoughts and prayers even when I don't write.
It has been a busy time since my return to
Kenya. I have been quite safe and things are looking better here since agreements were signed. I find it amazing that the leaders chosen to serve their people have spent 2 months serving their own interests. Politics- I guess there is no getting around it and it seems that even the disciples dealt with these types of issues. So we praise God that He has united the leaders and the country can move forward.
While I have to remain in
Nairobi ( the doctor has said my back is still unstable) God has opened many doors for me to serve. I am working at the ELCK church in
Nairobi and am involved in many things. I am working as parish bookkeeper along with the parish treasurer. God has provided me with the opportunity to work with the pastoral staff on many different projects. I will be working with the Heart to Heart Orphan and Vulnerable Child project, the Women Living with HIV/AIDS Support Group, as well as helping in any way I can with IDP (internally displaced persons) projects. My primary focus is to seek partnerships with organizations that seek to help here in
Kenya. I also attend the weekly AA meetings and have presented the Celebrate Recovery program to the church. They are interested but at this time they do not wish to stop the AA meetings to start something else. AA is successful and I pray that in God's timing we will begin this wonderful recovery program.
I am also able to continue assisting Gloria Sauck with some of her work that can be done here in
Nairobi.
It has been such a blessing to return and know that God has much work for me here in
Nairobi. I still have pain..some days are better than others but it just doesn't seem to matter anymore. I am working with people who are enduring such hardship and trial that I am humbled by their endurance, and by reaching out to each other in Christ's love we are strengthened together. I felt this yesterday as I sat side by side with the ladies at an HIV/AIDS support meeting and how just a smile or touch brought joy to us both. We gathered in the name of Christ to rejoice Him and share our lives and that is what it is all about.
So that is my update for now. May God bless you mightily and may you be strengthened by His presence and filled with His peace!
Love,
